Ahmad and Liliyana on course for hattrick | Just a Blog Latest telenovela

Tantowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir stayed on course to win their third consecutive Open title when they reached the final of the US$200,000 Li Ning Singapore Open Superseries on Saturday.

Chen Hung Ling-Cheng Wen HsingThe Indonesians, seeded fourth in the tournament, stunned top seeds and Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) gold medallists Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei 23-21, 21-16 in just 39 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Remarkably, Liliyana – who has only just recovered from an elbow injury – and her partner came back from 20-15 down to force deuce in the opening game and survived a sixth game point at 21-20 before taking the first game.

They took heart from the great comeback to lead all the way in the second game to set-up a match-up against Taipei’s Chen Hung Ling-Cheng Wen Hsing (left), in the only final which will not have a Chinese representative.

Hung Ling-Wen Hsing book their place in the title decider when they defeated England’s Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork 21-12,-21-15.

Just before the start of the tournament, Liliyana said she and Tantowi were confident of winning their second consecutive OSIM BWF World Superseries title. They had won the Yonex Sunrise India Open Superseries on May 1 and followed that up by bagging the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold a week later.

She told the Jakarta Globe: “I feel good after resting my elbow for about a month. We’re looking for our second Super Series title this year.”

The men’s doubles final will see Indonesia’s Alvent Yulianto Chandra-Hendra Aprida Gunawan taking on China’s Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng.

The Indonesians outlasted China’s Chai Biao and Guo Zhendong 21-19, 24-26, 21-14 while three-time world champions Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng knocked out second seeds Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung of South Korea 21-16, 23-21.
Ha Jung Eun-Kim Min Jung (SF)There was double heartbreak for Japan in the women’s doubles when second seeds Mizuki Fujii-Reika Kakiiwa and fourth seeds Shizuka Matsuo-Mami Naito were knocked out on Saturday.

Sixth seeded South Koreans Ha Jung-Eun-Kim Min-Jung (right), beat Fujii-Kakiiwa 21-16, 21-18. Zhao Yunlei made up for missing out on the mixed doubles final when she and partner Tian Qing, who are the fifth seeds, fought hard to eliminate Matsuo-Naito 23-21, 21-17.

The men’s singles is an all-China affair between Lin Dan and Chen Jin while the women’s final will see Denmark’s Tine Baun taking on China’s Wang Xin.
